Accounting Specialist

Role Overview
SET Logistics is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Specialist to support day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced freight brokerage environment.
This is an entry-level opportunity for someone who understands basic accounting principles and is ready to build practical experience. Previous transportation or logistics experience is not required. We are willing to train the right person on freight billing, accounts receivable processes, customer portals, transportation management systems, and SET-specific procedures.
What You’ll Do
- 01 Assist with customer invoicing, accounts receivable, payment posting, and general accounting support.
- 02 Review load and delivery documentation to ensure shipments are ready for accurate and timely billing.
- 03 Research billing, payment, and account discrepancies and help resolve issues quickly.
- 04 Follow up on outstanding invoices, past-due balances, and customer payment commitments.
- 05 Apply and reconcile customer payments and maintain accurate account records.
- 06 Work with Operations, Sales, and other internal teams to resolve billing or documentation issues.
- 07 Navigate accounting software, McLeod/TMS tools, customer portals, and multiple systems efficiently.
- 08 Maintain organized documentation, accurate data entry, and clear notes on account activity.
- 09 Support account reconciliations, reporting, and additional Accounting team projects as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, including invoicing, accounts receivable, payments, and reconciliations.
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers and financial information.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills, including confidence speaking with customers.
- Strong organization, follow-up, and time-management skills.
- Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly and move between multiple screens and platforms.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; Sage, McLeod, or other accounting/TMS experience is a plus.
- Accounting, Finance, Business coursework or degree preferred, but practical knowledge and aptitude will be considered.
- Previous accounting, bookkeeping, AR, customer service, or office experience preferred; logistics experience is not required.
