Frequently Asked Questions
How do I become a carrier for SET Logistics?
Email compliance@setlogistics.net with your name, DOT number, MC number, and how you heard about SET. Our team will review the publicly available data about your company, and if it’s a potential fit you will receive an invitation to complete our digital screening and onboarding process.
How do I verify SET is a legitimate broker?
Check SET out the way you’d check anyone. SET’s MC number and $75,000 BMC-84 bond are on file with the FMCSA, and our payment history is visible through the major broker credit services. If you like what you see, we’ll walk you through the onboarding process. A broker who hesitates on that is telling you something.
What are SET's carrier requirements?
At a minimum, SET looks for active operating authority, acceptable age of authority, acceptable insurance in appropriate limits, verifiable identity for both the company and driver(s), and a verifiable, acceptable safety record. SET uses multiple data sources and networking groups to confirm this information.
How fast does SET pay?
SET’s standard payment terms are detailed in our Broker Carrier Agreement, with quick-pay options available for faster funding after some history is established.
Does SET work with factoring companies?
Yes. We honor properly noticed A/R assignments to factoring companies. Be sure to upload your Notice of Assignment during onboarding so payments route correctly from load one.
What kind of freight does SET have?
You can expect to see a steady volume of open deck freight: flatbed, step-deck, hot shot, RGN, loads of machinery, steel, building materials, and industrial equipment, plus van, reefer, and expedited freight across the U.S. and Canada.
Does SET have consistent freight or just spot loads?
Both. SET serves recurring lanes for repeat shippers, especially in the Southeast, and posts spot freight daily.
What is Highway, and why does SET use it?
Highway is an industry-standard carrier identity and compliance platform that verifies authority, insurance, and equipment. It is designed to block fraudulent actors on all sides of the transaction, and is one key part of SET’s carrier screening process.
Does SET double-broker loads?
SET’s customers prohibit double-brokering, and SET expressly prohibits double-brokering in our Broker Carrier Agreements as well. Double-brokering is a serious industry problem and we want no part of it. If you ever suspect fraud on a load you’ve seen with our name on it, call us directly. We want to know.
Will I know securement and tarp requirements before I accept a load?
Yes. Tarping, securement, and any special handling requirements will be detailed on the rate confirmation before dispatch, along with delivery appointment and site instructions. No surprises at the shipper’s dock.
How does detention and layover pay work?
Detention and layover terms will be specified in your rate confirmation. Report delays as they happen, with documented in/out times, and we’ll pursue the accessorials your rate confirmation supports.
What is TONU, and does SET pay it?
Truck-ordered-not-used fees may apply when a confirmed SET load is canceled after you’re dispatched. TONU terms are addressed in your rate confirmation. Report the cancellation immediately and we’ll process it per the agreement.
What paperwork do I need to get paid?
A signed rate confirmation and a clean, valid POD, submitted promptly after delivery.
Do owner-operators qualify, or only fleets?
Both. From single-truck owner-operators to large fleets, if you pass verification and run safe, there’s probably freight for you.
In what regions does SET need capacity most?
The Southeast is our backyard: Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Open-deck capacity in the Southeast gets first priority on our project freight, but we book nationwide and into Canada.
